Alicia Procello Maddox - Experience in the Nonprofit and Philanthropic Sector

Alicia Procello Maddox has over two decades of experience working in the nonprofit and philanthropic sector for major corporations as well as major foundations. She began her career in 1992 working as a health educator with Planned Parenthood Los Angeles. There, she developed age-appropriate educational programs for dozens of Los Angeles schools and trained over 150 volunteers. In 1994, Alicia Procello Maddox Carriers Database moved to Ann Arbor to pursue an MPH at the University of Michigan. While earning her masters, she continued to work as a community-based public health liaison. In this role, she was responsible for building partnerships between the student body and local nonprofits.


Ms. Procello Maddox Carriers Database moved back to California in 1996 to work at the California Wellness Foundation. Serving as a program officer and then as program director, she implemented a $20 million grant making strategy to improve health outcomes and developed grants aimed at increasing diversity in the healthcare industry. She went on to work at Nike where she served as a corporate responsibility manager and oversaw grants aimed at promoting physical activity through investments in nonprofits and community sports surfaces.


Since 2009, Alicia Procello Maddox has served as vice president of community investment for the Avery Dennison Corporation and the president of the Avery Dennison Foundation. In these roles, she oversees all aspects of grant making for a fortune 500 company operating in 50 countries.
